Looking for inspiration for your next marketing or social media campaign? Then check out this list of National, International and World awareness days for June 2022.
We’ve included a mix of serious and not so serious awareness days to give you flexibility with your messaging and lot’s of inspiration to your next campaign.
Let It Bloom June and 30 Days Wild Month
Following on from No Mow May we go into a month dedicated to creating wild spaces in our gardens and communities. With the emphasis on flowers and letting them be and grow in their own ways.
Have you got an area of your garden that you can leave to its own devices? You may be surprised to see what comes up when you leave it alone.
Plus, it’s not only the environment that will thank you but the wildlife too.
This is a chance to recognise the amazing contribution volunteers make to our communities.
Volunteers played a key role during the recent pandemic but more than that they help in so many areas that we probably don’t even realise it.
There will be a range of events in your local area over the week to highlight volunteering opportunities and to encourage us to think about and join in with the activities
Go Barefoot Day
Kick off your shoes today and get your feet onto some grass or, if you’re lucky enough to be by the sea, take a walk on the beach and feel the sand between your toes.
This is great for keeping you connected and grounded to the earth, but more importantly it’s a day to help support a charity that provides millions of underprivileged children globally with shoes.
In some areas of the world shoes can either be hard to come by or just unaffordable. Donating your shoes, new or still useable, also keeps them out of landfills.
National Fish and Chip Day
Mushy peas or curry sauce? Which one would you choose?
Also, there are loads of fantastic plant-based fish alternatives out there so why not try taking fish off your menu today. We love banana blossom ‘fish’, you’d never know it wasn’t real fish, it’s so flaky.
Hug Your Cat Day
Give your moggy an extra big hug today. And if you don’t have one and have room in your life for a furry friend it’s also Adopt a Shelter Cat month in June.
World Environment Day
How can we help the environment in this modern world?
Plant trees, create green spaces in our cities, change our diets (go plant-based), reduce our consumption, shop second hand, switch to a green energy provider, litter pick and work to stop the pollution of our rivers and coasts, among so much more.
Head out for a walk today and take a look around you. What can you do in your local area to help nature?
It may be picking up some litter or choosing a plant-based alternative at the coffee shop.
Every little helps.
World Oceans Day
We are passionate about the Ocean here at Kakadu and to see it being destructed breaks our hearts.
It’s so vitally important to the health and wellbeing of the planet and its population that we all need to focus on finding ways to protect it.
There is a film that we highly recommend you seek out and watch called Seaspiracy. It will give you an insight into the problems the ocean faces and maybe it will inspire you to help either personally or through your business.
Child Safety Week
National Best Friends Day
A best friend is someone you consider closest to you. Often the one who knows all your secrets and who has shared all your joys too.
Take the time today to check in with them and just make sure they’re ok. You don’t want those secrets being leaked!
Employer Branding Awareness Week
94% of job seekers would consider an employer’s brand when applying for a job. Employers with a great brand are seeing a 50% reduction in the cost per hire too.
It’s important to know that you’re positioning your organisation as a good place to work. Just having beanbags in the boardroom won’t cut it, you need to make sure your business is doing enough to make it an enticing and wonderful place to work, not only for new employees but your current staff too.
UK Clothing Poverty Awareness Day
A day highlighting the hidden issue of clothing poverty in the UK. Check your wardrobes and if you don’t wear it, donate it.
Men’s Health Week
It’s time for your annual MOT men! #menshealthweek
World Blood Donor Day
Do something amazing, give blood and save a life.
National Beer Day & Global Wind Day
We know beer can make you a bit gassy but we promise the two aren’t linked.
Global wind day is actually a day to celebrate how wind can help us to decarbonise our society through capturing its power as renewable energy.
International Working Animals Day
Working animals such as horses, donkeys, camels and elephants play a role in the world’s poorest communities, ploughing fields and carrying water and food.
They do this in extreme temperatures and hard conditions, yet are quite often denied adequate food and water themselves. This is often due to the struggles that poverty-stricken families have to provide even for themselves.
Whilst we wish that there was no need for any animals to be put to work, it is a harsh reality of the world we live in.
What we can do is to support the charities, such as SPANA, who are working tirelessly to provide free veterinary care and access to clean water and food for these animals.
Working or not, all animals deserve our respect and recognition.
World Refill Day
World Refill Day is a global public awareness campaign to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste. Do you offer products or services that can help people to reduce their waste?
Plastic-Free Beauty Day
Following on from World Refill Day we have Plastic Free Beauty Day where all beauty brands, consumers and retailers are being called on to reconsider their use of plastic. It can be new, recycled or reclaimed but plastic almost always ends up in landfills or in the sea.
Try and look for eco-friendly brands that aren’t wrapped in, or contain, plastic when you’re shopping.
Remember, there is no such thing as ‘good plastic’.
International Picnic Day
Lay a blanket down wherever you are and enjoy a picnic on your own or with friends and family.
International Surfing Day
Man, that was a sick wave.
Seriously, another pair of socks? Didn’t you give him those last year? Come on get your creative head on and treat your Dad to something special.
This year’s theme is ‘Healing’
Healing means recovering from a painful experience or situation in order to continue living. Refugees have lost their homes and lives and are starting from scratch. And those going through the asylum system also live with the threat of being detained or deported.
Imagine how you would feel if your whole world turned upside down and you had no control over how or where you lived.
Look out for events that are happening near you or maybe organise an event yourself to support refugees everywhere.
The longest day of the year.
World Music Day
Bang a drum, shake your maracas, sing a song. It really doesn’t matter what you do just make some beautiful noise today. Or like us, spin a nice bit of vinyl and enjoy the sweet sound of music.
International Day of Yoga
The word Yoga means to join or unite so join us on your mat today for some Yin and maybe a bit of Yang too. Namaste.
Public Service Day
A day to remind us of how important the public sector is and how much we should value the people who dedicate their lives to public service every day.
Wrong Trousers Day
You may still be wearing your pyjamas at your desk but if not, give it a try today. It’s sort of becoming the norm though with so many of us still working from home. Maybe wearing your ‘work’ trousers would be considered as the wrong trousers these days?
National Writing Day
Today is the perfect day to start getting that book out of you and onto paper/the screen.
National Handshake Day
Is there a right or a wrong way to shake hands? There is certainly a wide variety of styles out there but pick your favourite and give it a try today.
We hope this has given you a few lightbulb moments and lots of inspiration for your next social media and marketing campaigns.

Optimising an image is a process where you create a top-quality image whilst maintaining the smallest file size you can. It’s not an easy job but it is vital for any website, especially an e-commerce site as they are hugely image reliant.
We guide you through the key things you need to create an accessible design for people with specific disabilities and neurodivergence.
If you really want your eCommerce site to succeed, and why wouldn’t you, then there are some key features that should be included and we’ve compiled that list for you.
You should be analysing your site regularly to make sure it’s delivering the best user experience for your target market. In turn, delivering the most leads and sales. But, if you’re not used to it, it may be hard to work out what to look at when you start to analyse your website.
