Awareness Days

Looking for inspiration for your next marketing or social media campaign? Then check out this list of National, International and World awareness days for January 2022.

We’ve included a mix of serious and not so serious awareness days to give you flexibility with your messaging and lot’s of inspiration to your next campaign.

Whole of January

The month of January is dedicated to several things but for us, the campaign we really get behind is Veganuary. Which inspires people all over the world to try vegan living.

Adopting a vegan lifestyle is one of the biggest single things you as an individual can do to reduce your impact on our environment. It also offers huge benefits for your health and of course, it helps to stop millions of animals from being subjected to cruel and terrifying lives in the animal agriculture industry.

Ready to give it a try? Sign up to Veganuary here. You won’t regret it.

2nd January

Motivation and Inspiration Day

Think of someone who inspires you and see if you can find a way to show them your appreciation for being who they are. Get motivated to start something you’ve always wanted to do, learn a language, join a martial arts class. If you can think of it, you can do it.

3rd January

Festival Of Sleep Day

Time to find those Christmas PJ’s and jump back into bed for the day. Sleep is one of the most common and important human activities and we seem to have mastered the technique pretty well!

Pop quiz fact – an irrational fear of sleep is called Somniphobia

5th January

Big Schools Birdwatch Day

2021 was a bit different with Big Schools Birdwatch but hopefully 2022 will be back to normal and teachers and pupils can get out and count the birds they see at school. Much better than double maths and a great way to get kids interested and engaged with the wildlife around them.

10th January

National Houseplant Appreciation Day

Not only do houseplants look lovely around the home they can add a fresh scent and bring just a bit of the outdoors in. We may not all have green fingers but it’s very therapeutic looking after them. You can start with the indestructible Spider Plant or Aloe Vera and work up to the more exotic or maybe just grow some herbs on your kitchen windowsill to add to your vegan cooking.

12th January

Kiss A Ginger Day

It’s a common myth that red hair originated in either Scotland or Ireland but you’d be surprised to know it actually began in central Asia.

Other myths are that redheads are in league with the devil or turn into vampires when they die!

Redheads are more likely to be stung by bees, require more anaesthesia during surgery and are most likely to be lefthanded are all true.

If you have a favourite redhead show them some love today.

17th-22nd January

Big Energy Saving Week

It’s nearly bill time and the first one after Christmas is always a hard one. With the hike in energy prices and climate emergency, we all need to look for ways to reduce our consumption.

Check out this article where we give you some pointers on how to offset your carbon emissions which has a link to an article that gives you advice on how you can make a difference.

18th January

National Thesaurus  Day

Thesaurus day will help you broaden your horizons and your vocabulary, and take joy in the beauty of language. You can celebrate the exaltation of life with blessings as you laud the day ahead, and rejoice as you prepare for the party that exults a new date on the calendar.

19th January

Museum Selfie Day

Museums are great for learning about history and art but when taking photographs is usually banned it’s hard to record your memories from the day.

Museum selfie day combines ancient history with the modern trend for taking selfies and on this one day, created in 2015 by Mar Dixon, you can snap away. Just check with the museum reception that they are taking part in the day first.

20th January

National Disc Jockey Day

Back in the day DJing required a massive collection of vinyl records and expensive equipment in a kitted-out venue. Nowadays anyone can DJ with the plethora of powerful software and digital turntables available.

We love spinning a vinyl but bow at the feet of actual DJ’s. It’s not an easy task to please a whole room with your music choices.

23rd January

National Handwriting Day

Practising your handwriting is important now more than ever, especially in a world where it’s so rarely used as a form of communication. With computer keyboards as the new writing method, we often forget the good old pen and paper. This day encourages you to put pen to paper, and show off your skills!

28th January

National Fun At Work Day

Yes, there really is a day when the two can go together! Even if it’s just enjoying spending time with your coworkers so that work isn’t a grind.

Good luck with that if you work on your own though!

28th January

Data Privacy Day

Well, that’s sucked the fun out of Fun at Work Day! But, it’s so important these days to keep your data secure. Make sure your business is compliant and your data is fully secure. You don’t want a fine from the ICO after all.

29th January

National Seed Swap Day

Although people have been swapping seeds since gardening and farming began, nowadays people usually buy seeds and the old tradition of swapping seeds is disappearing from our culture. So, why not host a seed swapping day with friends, even better if they have an allotment. You might pick up some unusual varieties.

30th January

Inane Answering Machine Message Day

What is your answering machine message? Probably a pretty standard ‘Sorry John’s not here. Leave a message’.

31st January

National Backward  Day

National Backward Day. The day where the world gets turned upside down, inside becomes out and madness becomes sanity and day becomes night. Right?

We hope this has given you a few lightbulb moments and lots of inspiration for your next social media and marketing campaigns.
