Whole of January
The month of January is dedicated to several things but for us, the campaign we really get behind is Veganuary. Which inspires people all over the world to try vegan living.
Adopting a vegan lifestyle is one of the biggest single things you as an individual can do to reduce your impact on our environment. It also offers huge benefits for your health and of course, it helps to stop millions of animals from being subjected to cruel and terrifying lives in the animal agriculture industry.
Ready to give it a try? Sign up to Veganuary here. You won’t regret it.
2nd January
Motivation and Inspiration Day
Think of someone who inspires you and see if you can find a way to show them your appreciation for being who they are. Get motivated to start something you’ve always wanted to do, learn a language, join a martial arts class. If you can think of it, you can do it.

Festival Of Sleep Day
Time to find those Christmas PJ’s and jump back into bed for the day. Sleep is one of the most common and important human activities and we seem to have mastered the technique pretty well!

Big Schools Birdwatch Day
2021 was a bit different with Big Schools Birdwatch but hopefully 2022 will be back to normal and teachers and pupils can get out and count the birds they see at school. Much better than double maths and a great way to get kids interested and engaged with the wildlife around them.
10th January
National Houseplant Appreciation Day
Not only do houseplants look lovely around the home they can add a fresh scent and bring just a bit of the outdoors in. We may not all have green fingers but it’s very therapeutic looking after them. You can start with the indestructible Spider Plant or Aloe Vera and work up to the more exotic or maybe just grow some herbs on your kitchen windowsill to add to your vegan cooking.
12th January
Kiss A Ginger Day
It’s a common myth that red hair originated in either Scotland or Ireland but you’d be surprised to know it actually began in central Asia.
Other myths are that redheads are in league with the devil or turn into vampires when they die!
Redheads are more likely to be stung by bees, require more anaesthesia during surgery and are most likely to be lefthanded are all true.
If you have a favourite redhead show them some love today.

National Disc Jockey Day
Back in the day DJing required a massive collection of vinyl records and expensive equipment in a kitted-out venue. Nowadays anyone can DJ with the plethora of powerful software and digital turntables available.
We love spinning a vinyl but bow at the feet of actual DJ’s. It’s not an easy task to please a whole room with your music choices.
23rd January
National Handwriting Day
Practising your handwriting is important now more than ever, especially in a world where it’s so rarely used as a form of communication. With computer keyboards as the new writing method, we often forget the good old pen and paper. This day encourages you to put pen to paper, and show off your skills!
